A bit of Lladro history

In 1953 Juan José and Vicente Lladró, while working in a tile and crockery factory, began experimenting with his first items using a home furnace. In 1955 they had developed things to a point where they began making sculptures that reflected the current culture. In 1958 they took the plunge... they dedicated themselves full time to the new business. Their success was in part due to their innovation. Developing new designs, the delicate manufacturing of the flowers and replacing the common 3 layer firing to a one layer firing gave them their unique and life like coloring. Their popularity grew so that within a few years they were able to open several stores. The rest is history as they have become one of the most sought after collected figurines.

What are Lladro worth?

We understand that before you bring in or mail in your items you will have concerns on the value. Here is some sample pricing of what some Lladro pieces have recently resold for. Obviously this is not our buy price. We buy all Lladro, not just the items on this list.

Since listing every Lladro would be a daunting task, here are just a few rules that usually hold true. If the item is small it will tend to have less value then one that is large. If the item is delicate and easy to break (example: lots of flowers), this is an indication of value. A limited edition piece will tend to have a higher value. Limited edition pieces will usually have the number stamped on the bottom (ex: #122/600). The smaller, more common Lladro pieces can resell for as little as $15 to $20 (example: single geese), while on average the more common Lladro usually resell for $75 to $150. The extremely large Lladro can resell for $2,000 to $25,000. This of course applies to a very select group of Lladro.

The value will be affected by the the condition of the piece. While a damaged piece is no longer considered mint, it will still hold value. Not all damage is readily seen at first glance. Check your items carefully for condition. To help illustrate how easy it is to miss damage at first glance, here are a few examples of damage to figurines.

What we pay

Our goal is to pay half the estimated resale value for items valued at $20 or more. We buy all kinds of Lladro both with and without original boxes. The condition of both the packaging and the item will of course affect its value. Items that resell for under $20 will not always receive half due to the cost of photographing and selling them. We do have to pay our employees :).

How our buying process works

We are not a consignment business. We buy your items outright.

If your want to bring them in, we recommend that you make an appointment, so that we can have a buyer available to help you. There is no need to list your items, but if you have more than one brand or product line it helps to sort them that way. Our buyer will go through your items, give you pricing and in most cases, get a check cut for you during your appointment.

If, like most people, you wish to mail them in, we recommend you read our packing tips for fragile items. After that, fill out our form to get things started and let us know your items are coming. If you have enough to qualify for free shipping, we will get prepaid UPS labels to you. While items usually arrive with no problems, we occasionally have items arrive damaged. We are NOT RESPONSIBLE for lost or damaged packages. If you prefer, you are welcome to insure and ship them with the carrier of your choice at your expense, but please fill out the form anyway and include the words "self shipped" in your item description. That way we will be sure to have accurate information for sending your check.

Once your items arrive we will process them and mail out a check usually in 1 to 3 business days. Please remember that once we drop the check in the mail, the amount of time to deliver the check is in the hands of the postal service. If you want to know exactly when your items arrive, please note your tracking numbers on the prepaid UPS labels and go to www.ups.com to track them.

Packing tips for fragile items

It is important to package your items carefully so they arrive safely and to protect the value of your items. Also, shipping companies generally do not pay claims for broken items if they are not properly packaged. Please read our packing tips for fragile items. Professional packaging is also available at many shipping stores, but it can be quite expensive.
